In a recent social media post, popular Sierra Leonean musician Nasser Ayoub expressed his belief that Mohamed Gento Kamara has the potential to be an excellent Minister of Works.

Ayoub’s statement comes in the aftermath of Kamara’s defeat in the Freetown Mayoral Election, where Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr emerged as the victor.

According to the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, representing the All People’s Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the 2023 Freetown City Council elections. Aki-Sawyerr secured 51% of the votes, totaling 288,683 votes, while her primary challenger, Mohamed Gento Kamara, received 48% of the votes, amounting to 268,213 votes.

Mohamed Gento Kamara, the CEO and Country Director of Gento Group, a prominent indigenous Sierra Leonean company in the construction industry, has garnered recognition for his contributions to the field. Additionally, Kamara has held an executive position in the East End Lions Football club for over a decade. Despite his loss in the mayoral election, Ayoub’s endorsement highlights Kamara’s potential in the realm of government administration, specifically as Minister of Works.
