Women’s and human rights advocacy organisation, 50/50 Group has ushered in a Dr. Fredline McCormack-Hale as their new president at their Tower Hill headquarters in Freetown.

The Group elected Associate Professor, Dr. Fredline McCormack-Hale to oversee the activities of the organisation for the next three years.

Dr. McCormack-Hale, in her victory address, appreciated her predecessor for the job she has done and said that the Group has relentlessly been empowering women for the past 20 years.

The New President promised to lead well amidst future challenges.

The outgoing president, Haja Amina Abdullah congratulated the new president and her executive and advised them to be ready to counter future challenges. Abdullah urged the new president and her executive to continue on the path of unity the organisation has been treading on. She continued by asking the new president to render help to women in Sierra Leone by creating the necessary platforms.

The Group’s Project Lead, Dr. Aisha Fofana Ibrahim spoke about the history of the Group and their successes like gender parity in the country over the years. She cited the role their organisation played in the framing and signing of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Bill.

She continued by encouraging the president and her new executive to be cognisant of their objectives.
