The Minister of Information and Civic Education Chernor Bah has informed Journalists that the Ministry of Finance has approved 50 percent increment on the salary of staff of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

He made the statement on Tuesday 29th August,2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation Conference Hall on Tower Hill in Freetown.

He affirmed that the salary increment is part of the President His Excellency Julius Maada Bio’s commitment towards improving the welfare of the information sector in the country of which the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) is at the centre.

He further revealed  that in a letter addressed to the Director General of Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation, by the Minister of Finance officially increased fifty percent of Salary rates of the entire staff.

The Minister and Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education recently visited the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) to inquire about the challenges the corporation is facing.

Minister Bah shared pictures of the event and his interactions with SLBC staff on his Twitter account.
He conveyed his commitment to revitalizing the Corporation, citing the President of Sierra Leone’s past success in revamping it during his tenure as Chief of Information under AFRC rule.

The SierraLeone Broadcasting Corporation is Africa’s oldest national broadcaster. PresidentBio revamped it when he was Chief of Information during the NPRC days,” he commented.

In adhering to the task which is to bring the Corporation to 21st Century look, he led a town-hall meeting with staff of the SLBC to discuss their challenges and proffers possible solutions to curtail them.
