Abdul Karim Kamara, a member of the All People’s Congress (APC) communication team, has accused Chief Sam-Sumana of attempting to bypass party rules in order to validate his candidacy for the party’s flagbearership ahead of the 2026 elections.

In an exclusive interview with Liberty Online TV, Kamara argued that Sam-Sumana, who previously served as Sierra Leone’s Vice President under the APC, left the party for another political group before later seeking readmission in 2023.

“Leaving the APC for another political party is an apolitical act, and the party’s constitution is clear that anyone who exits and later returns must undergo a formal readmission process, especially when it involves senior membership,” Kamara said.

He recalled that Sam-Sumana himself acknowledged being readmitted during a 2024 press conference. According to him, this places limitations on the former Vice President’s current standing within the party.

“Any member categorized as readmitted has their membership counted from the date of readmission,” Kamara stressed.

The comments add to the ongoing debate within the APC over who qualifies to contest for the party’s leadership in the run-up to the 2026 elections.
