The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone has arrested 39 staff members of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) following a raid at the Authority’s Headquarters on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

The operation, carried out by the ACC’s Scorpion Squad, targeted the Licenses Department amid allegations of fraudulent activities involving system operators.

According to a public notice issued by the SLRSA on Friday, September 13, 2024, the raid was prompted by a report from the Internal Audit Department, which revealed suspected breaches within the licensing system.

The alleged fraud involves system operators circumventing mandatory payments, including income tax and circulation fees, meant for the National Revenue Authority (NRA).

These activities reportedly caused a significant loss of government revenue between March and August 2024.

The arrested staff members are currently assisting the ACC with its investigation into the alleged system breach.

The SLRSA reaffirmed its commitment to providing accountable services and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards financial misconduct.
