The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone hosted a visit from David Robinson, Senior Counsel of the IMF’s Legal Department, on November 6, 2024.

The visit aimed to assess governance and corruption vulnerabilities within government institutions as part of preparations for a new Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program in May 2025.

Robinson noted that questionnaires would be sent to the ACC in February 2025 to gather information on its needs and challenges, which will inform discussions with the government. He encouraged the ACC to provide detailed responses to ensure effective recommendations.

ACC Deputy Commissioner Augustine Foday Ngobie, speaking on behalf of Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala, expressed the ACC’s readiness to cooperate fully with the IMF.

He highlighted government support, including the construction of the ACC’s new headquarters, Integrity House, and stressed the importance of political will in driving the ACC’s successes.

Ngobie pointed out the challenge of an aging vehicle fleet but noted that despite this, the ACC has achieved significant results in fighting corruption.

Contributions were made by key ACC officials, including Directors of Prevention, Operations, and Public Education and Outreach, who reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to good governance. The meeting concluded with positive exchanges between the ACC and IMF delegation.
