Information gleaned from inside the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) headquarters in Freetown indicates that the Commission would soon charge to court five former All People’s Congress (APC) government officials that have been investigated for corruption during their term in office.
While our source kept tight lips on the names, he stated that the five former APC government officials were investigated based on the Commission of Inquiry (COI) recommendation for the ACC to conduct further investigations into matters that bordered on corruption that the COI, because of time, was unable to delve deeply into.
It could be recalled that in September 2020 when President Bio received the reports of the COI established by Constitutional Instruments Nos. 64, 65 and 67 of 2018 and the Government White Paper, he maintained that the government will fully implement all recommendations to the letter.
Last weekend, the Commission served indictments of five former government officials alleged to be involved in the embezzlement of a little over USD4 million allocated by the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of the Sierra Leone UN Mission Chancery building in New York, United Sates of America.
