Following the Press Release dated- 24th November, 2022 titled, ”COMMENCEMENT OF TARGETING, ENROLMENT AND PAYMENT OF BENEFICIARIES OF THE COVID-19 EMERGNCY CASH TRANSFER (ECT LL) RESIDUAL CASELOAD IN FREETOWN’’. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed strong monitoring of the process to ensure its successful roll out.
The safety Net program which includes variety of activities targeted at emancipating the Socio-economic condition of very poor vulnerable households implemented by the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) with support from the European Union and the World Bank.
In his statement, Sylvanus Blake- the acting Public Relations Officer ACC said, the monitoring has got an existence since 2013 when Ebola stroked and still continue to go on. When the Government decided to help these vulnerable households they were involved in the identification of communities, the line listing of beneficiaries, the enrolment process as well as the movement across the entire country, engaged in the selection of beneficiaries and also when they are paid.
‘’Monitoring reports as well as other relevant reports by the donor partners and the Government have indicated that the unconditional cash transfer project and programs in Sierra Leone have zero corruption risk’’ he mentioned.
He said mechanisms are put in place by the ACC to ensure corrupt free processes. He maintained that reducing the physical cash transfer to electronic cash transfer was safer because of the socio-economy and socio-cultural climate currently in the country.
Referencing the payment strategic plans he said, in the second cohort payment which incorporated 36,000 beneficiaries and each receiving Nle 1,309 cuts across the country.
The ACC stand firm to assure and maintain that each of the beneficiaries receive what due them.
