The Freetown City Mayor, Yvonne Aki-Sawyer has been reportedly summoned today the 2nd February 2022, by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to answer to questioning on alleged misappropriation of donor and state funds in the much-touted Transform Freetown Project.

14 days ago, Parliamentary Committee on Accounts, had ordered an immediate Special Audit to be carried out and completed within 30 days by the Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL),of the Millions of Dollars of Donor-Funded Projects that were handled by Mayor Aki-Sawyyer as Head of the Freetown City Council.

The order for an immediate Audit emerged as a result of the uncompleted Audit of the Mayor of Freetown on the “Transform Freetown” initiative from which over Ten Million Dollars (equivalent to 100 Billion Leones) were used for the year 2019.
