A delegation of Executive Directors from the African Development Bank Group who are in Sierra Leone on a five-day consultation mission on Thursday 21st March 2024 visited the Angola Water Supply System Project site.
The consultation mission, which is part of the annual work program of the Executive Directors, is aimed at deepening the partnership between the Bank and Sierra Leone on issues related to the country’s development trajectory.
The Angola Water Supply System will provide a new water facility of 3 million liters a day by constructing 2 raw water intake weirs, a water treatment plant, a treated water reservoir, and a transmission and distribution network totaling 42 kilometers.
The new water supply facility which is presently 92% completed will serve about seventy thousand residents living in communities such as Angola, New Jersey, Adonkia, Ogoo Farm, Lakka, and Hamilton.
The Executive Directors of the African Development Bank Group were accompanied during the visit by senior officials of the ministries of Finance, the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, and the Guma Valley Water Company.
The Angola Water Supply System is expected to be commissioned in June.
