Africell Sierra Leone Chief Executive Officer, Shadi Gerjawi, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding digital inclusion and advancing technology nationwide during a recent engagement at the Consumer Parliament.
Speaking at the forum, Gerjawi described Africell as a trailblazer in Sierra Leone’s telecommunications sector, highlighting key milestones including the launch of 3G services in 2011, the rollout of 4G connectivity in 2018, and the company’s status as the first mobile operator in the country to secure a 5G spectrum license.
According to him, Africell’s growth strategy is centered on expanding nationwide coverage to ensure that communities across all districts have access to reliable and modern digital services.
Beyond telecommunications infrastructure, he emphasized the company’s investment in education and skills development, citing Africell’s free Learning and Training Centre located on Wilkinson Road. The centre, he noted, provides young people with opportunities to acquire digital and professional skills.
Gerjawi stated that Africell’s investment in both technology and human capital reflects the company’s broader vision of supporting Sierra Leone’s digital transformation and national development beyond its role as a telecommunications service provider.
