Sierra Leone’s Youth Envoy, Ambassador Yulisa Ahmadu, has unveiled his plans for the country’s youth in the AYV Wake up Sierra Leone Leone program following his recent appointment by President Bio.

In an interview, Ambassador Ahmadu expressed his ambition to empower the youth and ensure their active participation in decision-making processes.

He emphasized that his appointment transcends political affiliations and aims to make a difference for every young person in Sierra Leone.

Acknowledging President Bio’s commitment to youth involvement and inclusivity, Ambassador Ahmadu highlighted the need for more youth representation and authority in the country.

”We all know how much the Youth mean to the President. You have listened to his manifesto he mentioned time and again that it is an era and a time for youth involvement, and inclusivity,” he said.

He emphasized that just as the President has advocated for at least 30% female representation in the next administration, the majority of Sierra Leone’s population, which comprises young people, should also have a seat at the table.

Ambassador Ahmadu also made it clear that he has not been publicly involved in political affairs or party activities. However, he stated that President Bio chose him as a peacekeeper and advocate for all Sierra Leoneans, regardless of their political affiliations.

He emphasized that the issues affecting the youth are national concerns and should be addressed accordingly.

President Julius Maada Bio appointed Ambassador Yulisa Ahmadu as the Youth Envoy on May 25th, 2023. According to the appointment letter, the envoy will serve as a representative and advocate for the voices and interests of the youth. Additionally, he will carry out any other duties assigned by President Bio, either directly or through the Minister of Youth Affairs.
