Reports reaching out desk are indicating that the Sierra Leone Police have arrested popular businessman, Ahmed Basha and seven others for sexual offences involving minors.

One report revealed that Basha is currently held at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Pademba Road in Freetown together with the other seven assisting the police with investigation.

It said that Basha is in police custody for allegations related to harbouring underage girls at his residence. Some sources confirmed that some of the girls are as young as 16.

The businessman and his alleged accomplices could likely face three charges including harbouring underage girls, housing them for sexual purposes and sexual penetration.

Some locals have since expressed their anger over the matter calling for authorities to treat it with the highest regard. Others have questioned the continued sexual harassment of girls in the country.
