Sierra Leone’s outgoing Ambassador to Senegal, Alhaji Brima Elvis Koroma, officially bid farewell to Senegal’s President, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye, at a ceremony held at the State House in Dakar.
After serving for six years, Ambassador Koroma expressed both gratitude and sadness as he prepares for his next diplomatic assignment.
During his farewell remarks, Ambassador Koroma described his tenure as “invigorating in every respect,” noting that his time in Senegal seemed short due to the enriching experiences he encountered. He highlighted the strong ties formed between the two nations and praised the Senegalese people for their “maturity, humility, and wisdom.”
President Faye, in response, thanked Ambassador Koroma for his efforts in strengthening bilateral relations between Senegal and Sierra Leone. The president emphasized the ambassador’s role in fostering cooperation and urged him to remain a “brother and friend” of Senegal. He wished Ambassador Koroma success in his new role as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Algeria.
Koroma’s diplomatic portfolio also extended to Mauritania and Cape Verde during his time in Senegal. He will now take up a new post in Algeria, bringing a wealth of experience in administration, diplomacy, and negotiation.
The ceremony marks the end of an era of diplomatic cooperation that saw strengthened ties between Senegal and Sierra Leone, with hopes of continued collaboration in the future.
