It has been a tough and rough scene in the Eastern part of Freetown, Shell new road between drivers and the youths of the community over the negligence of the Government in executing their responsibilities.

The reason that resulted to this tense controversies with the tank drivers was a result of the death of an unknown woman who has been lying in the community for days now without Freetown City Council doing the needful.

Speaking to the chairman of the shell youths Abdul Zain Bangura, he disclosed that they are protesting because the Freetown City Council refused to do the duties to is citizens.

He furthered that the unknown deceased who no one could tell how she came into the community was sometimes back spotted at the Shell Police station sick and homeless. Sh had been around the police station for over months. The deceased was then taken to a near by hospital within the community which was headed by christian missionaries. The organization geared towards helping the privilege by providing medication to the homeless sick among others.

Abdul Zain went on that, the death of deceased came into picture while they were doing some area cleaning around Shell. At around 12 mid-day, the woman was later found to have died after struggling for sometime.

The Chairman and some some influential youths in the community mobilized to reach the higher authorities. According to the chairman, the Councilor, the Freetown City Council and the Sierra Leone Police were alerted of the incident.

“..Since we noticed the death of the woman, we called the Councilor and the authorities to report of the woman’s death…” Chairman Abdul Zain Bangura disclosed to Sierraloaded.

Abdul Zain went on that, the police, Councilor and the FCC came and took pictures but nothing has been done since all of them left the scene.

Speaking to other youths in the community furthered disclosed that the police denied the body as not their responsibility but the Freetown City Council. This the police were alleged to have said that it it were a crime scene that resulted to the death of someone, then it is their responsibility.

Confirming to some allegations levied against the police for illegally collecting money from the community people, the chairman affirmed that he was not at the scene of the event and cannot tell if really monies were collected by the police.

“… I heard the rumours but I wasn’t at the scene of the event and I cannot confirmed it the police really took money from the people to collect the deceased from where she died…” Chairman Abdul mentioned.

At the time of this write-up, the shell youths are desperate for any vehicles that insist on using the street to access APP, the road leading to the fuel jetty at Shell new road junction.

The chairman on his concluding statements disclosed that, the road has been the main route to access the fuel jetty terminal and Members of Parliament and other key stakeholders are plying the street to collect their monthly fuel coffer from the government. It has been also been a route to access afrigas office at Eastern.

With all these mentioned and yet more on the list, the government has turned a blind eye to an issue that the community has reported for an action to be taken which nothing has been done.

As a result of negligence from the government to do the needful, this has left the community on a risk situation as the deceased has been in the area for about three days since she died. And this has great heath effect to the community people as when things go at the edge could lead sickness from inhaling the bad smell that comes from the deceased.

As it stands now, the youths have agreed not to let anyone use that route until the needful is done, not even the first gentle man in Sierra Leone.
