The Acting Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Valesius Thomas will, this morning, together with his other colleagues deliver ruling on the matter brought to the Supreme Court by the elected Vice President of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana over his removal from office by the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma in March this year.

Lawyers for VP Sam Sumana had successfully argued that, under the current 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, the President does not have the constitutional authority to relieve his Vice President of his official responsibilities.

A counter argument was also put forward by Lawyers for the defendants including the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Franklyn Bai Kargbo.

Lead prosecuting counsel, Charles Francis Margai last week, expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will rule in favour of his client, VP Sam Sumana.

Mr. Margai disclosed that, if the ruling does not go in favour of his client, they might seek redress in the ECOWAS Court in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Security in expected to be beefed up around the vicinity of the Law Court Building today, according to senior Police sources.
