Members and supporters of Sierra Leone’s main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC) are reportedly bracing up for much trumpeted and anticipated election for new Executive, to which, many political pundits have opined that the party is currently at crossroads as it finds itself in a make-or-break situation.
Before now, there existed a formidable national executive which stood the test of time but as things unfold, many are furious to know whether or not many of those old guards will survive in making their way to the new national executive.
Political pundits hold the view that senior part stalwarts like the former Deputy National secretary General, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray and Osman Foday Yansaneh, will be voted as National Chairman and Deputy Chairman, respectively. Also, the former Acting National Publicity Secretary, Sidi Yayah Tunis has been earmarked as one of those who will be voted for as the three aforementioned personalities are regarded as battle tested politicians who have stood the ground to ensure that they continue to galvanise party members and garner more support for APC to take over State House through the ballot, come June 24 multitier elections.
According to political pundits, should the above-mentioned names sail through the National Delegates’ Conference (NCD) the party and will continue to provide strong leadership which it is currently yearning for.
However, these pundits opined that failure to have the right personalities in the various positions could spell doom for the success of APC.
Meanwhile, many members and supporters of the APC have condemned the attempt of dividing the party into Teams A and B which, to many, will only derail the chances of the party coming back to power, come June 24.
