The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has suspended its lower-level elections until the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) delivers rulings on ten petitions currently before it.
The development was confirmed by the party’s National Spokesman, Sidie Yayah Tunis, in an interview with the Executive Newspaper.
According to Tunis, the petitions should not be seen as signs of division within the party but rather as part of a healthy democratic process. “The petitions are part of a democratic process and not evidence of division,” he clarified.
While expressing optimism that the issues will be resolved soon, Tunis did not specify when the PPRC is expected to conclude its deliberations.
He urged members of the APC to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient, assuring them that the party’s leadership is committed to addressing all matters in line with democratic principles.
