There was high drama at Radisson Blu past Friday when sympathisers of ARISE IIP and Kingho Mining Company, met at a Press Conference convened by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, a Conference which was attended by over 80 media and civil society personnel for all to listen to what the government had to say concerning a contract that was given and then not given again and then given back again.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohamed Tarawallie’s presentation must have caught the attention of most of the audience since it is on him the government relies on to give the correct advice before anything could or could not happen as far as contracts entered into by government, are concerned.

Mr Tarawallie did prove his mettle as far as the explanation of what actually transpired or didn’t transpire, was concerned.

To begin to cut a long story short, AG Tarawallie told his audience that once upon a time ago, government signed a contract with kingho for rail and port.

He went on that that contract lapsed and then the contract went to ARISE IIP for the same rail and port. Hurrah!!

He explained that after the contract was awarded to ARISE IIP, ARISE foolishly sat there looking up the sky neither accepting the contract nor telling government that the conditions attached to the contract were not conducive for it and therefore they must either be adjusted or accepted as they were.

He said that because ARISE kept mum till the day it was to speak, expired, the contract itself terminated itself by magic.

More to come..
