The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Asmieu Bah, has been appointed as the Deputy Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

The appointment is seen as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the national broadcaster’s leadership and enhancing its service delivery across the country.

Asmieu Bah, a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in media and communications, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. His appointment comes at a critical time for the SLBC, as the corporation seeks to improve its reach, quality of programming, and overall impact on public information dissemination.

As Secretary General of SLAJ, Bah has been a vocal advocate for press freedom, media professionalism, and the development of the journalism sector in Sierra Leone.

Asmieu Bah is also a distinguished scholar, having been selected as a Hubert Humphrey Fellow for the 2021/2022 academic year at Arizona State University.

During his fellowship, he specialized in Public Relations, Strategic and Crisis Communications, and also underwent Leadership and Crisis Training at Syracuse University.

His academic credentials are further bolstered by his deep expertise in Political Science, with a focus on Diplomacy and International Relations, making him well-equipped for the demands of his new role at SLBC.

His leadership in SLAJ has earned him respect both locally and internationally, and his transition to SLBC is expected to further his commitment to public service and the media’s role in promoting transparency, accountability, and national development.
