First Lady Fatima Maada Bio has sparked widespread discussions following a viral video in which she made bold statements regarding the upcoming 2028 elections.
In the video, Mrs. Bio declared that wives of all aspirants vying for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) flagbearer position should be prepared to actively campaign alongside their husbands in the lead-up to the elections.
According to the First Lady, her involvement in campaigning will be strictly reserved for a candidate who has closely worked with her husband, President Julius Maada Bio.
She emphasized that any candidate who has not supported the president in the past should not expect her endorsement, suggesting instead that their wives should take on the role of campaigning for them.
“If someone has not helped the president before, let them call their wives to help them campaign,” Mrs. Bio stated, further reinforcing her stance.
She made it clear that her primary responsibility is to support her husband and to continue focusing on his vision for the country.
Additionally, the First Lady disclosed that once President Bio’s tenure in office comes to an end, she will also step down from the political stage. “When the president is leaving office, I am definitely leaving with him,” she said, signaling her intent to exit the political scene alongside her husband.
