The government of Sierra Leone has charged 12 people arrested and detained in connection with the November 26th failed coup attempt. 

The charged persons include Amadu ‘Koita’ Makalo, a retired military officer and alleged ringleader of the failed coup. Also charged is Bai Mahmoud Bangura, the National Organising Secretary of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) and 10 others.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, the charges include treason, misprision of treason, habouring, aiding, and abetting the enemy, among others.
