Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay Esq., and Deputy Minister of Justice, Madam Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh, on Wednesday 9th April 2025, engaged key police units wherein they discussed strategies to improve the efficiency of investigations and prosecutions for sexual and drug-related crimes.
The discussion aimed to reduce delays in legal processes, enhance collaboration among stakeholders, strengthen internal law enforcement systems, and provide better victim support.
“The fight against sexual and drug-related crimes is a shared responsibility. Our commitment to strengthening the justice system is unwavering, and we will continue to work together with all stakeholders to ensure swift justice, protect victims, and hold perpetrators accountable,” said Attorney General Alpha Sesay Esq.
Both the Attorney General and Deputy Minister stressed the importance of victim protection and accountability, ensuring that justice is served swiftly.
“The justice system is not just about law enforcement; it’s about ensuring that every victim is heard, supported, and protected. Together, we will strengthen our systems, reduce delays, and ensure that those responsible for these heinous crimes are held accountable,” emphasized Deputy Minister Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh.
The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police and other agencies, is committed to refining strategies and improving cooperation to create a safer Sierra Leone.
