In a recent press release issued by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), it has been officially announced that His Excellency Brig. (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Maada Bio has re-appointed Augustine Foday Ngobie as Deputy Commissioner of the Commission. This re-appointment comes for a final 5-year term, effective from April 10th, 2024.
Mr. Ngobie, a seasoned professional in the fight against corruption, expressed his gratitude for the faith and confidence reposed in him by President Bio. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in the ongoing battle against corruption, pledging to continue working closely with Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., the Management and Staff of the Commission, and all partners in the public and private sectors.
With a Bachelor of Science in Education (Major Economics) from the University of Sierra Leone and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Njala University, Mr. Ngobie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Commissioner in 2019, he served as Deputy Director of Intelligence and Investigations at the Commission, holding various positions since joining in 2003.
Mr. Ngobie’s extensive professional background includes serving in the Sierra Leone Police from 1990 to 2002, reaching the position of Deputy Head of the Inspectorate and Compliance Division before retiring as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and has undergone numerous professional trainings in areas such as tracing and recovery of corrupt proceeds, money laundering, investigative skills, and investigative interviewing skills.
In addition to his work with the ACC, Mr. Ngobie has contributed to academia as a part-time lecturer at the University of Makeni (UNIMAK).
