Renowned Nigerian Talent Agent, Artiste, Songwriter, and historian John Oluseun Abisagboola professionally known as Bankulli has on Sunday evening provided mentorship to a cross-section of Sierra Leonean entertainers in Freetown. The mentorship is geared towards capacity-building in the entertainment industry.
The Iron Lady of Sierra Leone Entertainment Ellen Keister who doubles as the CEO of Reems Entertainment facilitated the meeting as she has the direct link to Bankulli. Attendees of the meeting were drawn from different facts within the music sector ranging from artistes, Managers, Djs, Producers, and Promoters /Bloggers.
However, the President of All-Stars Prezo Colabo first introduced the country’s entertainers to Bankulli. He noted out that Sierra Leone is a virgin ground for investment in the Entertainment field. Prezo Colabo used the occasion to plead to his colleagues to start supporting each other for the sake of unity and development.
In his opening statement, the iconic pioneer of the promotion of Afrobeat Bankulli expressed how delighted he was to have met with Salone Entertainers during his vacation in Sierra Leone. Bankulli who was involved in Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift album in 2019 shares his more than 20 years of wealth of experience in the Entertainment Industry with his West African counterparts, Sierra Leone. He calls on every Sierra Leonean entertainer to come together for the good of the industry and music should be based on business, not emotion. The seasoned Talent Manager lamented the need for artistes to upgrade their acts and personality.
Salone Celebrity reported that, the two times Grammy Award nominee pointed out that digital music distribution should be the first challenge that the music sector should address. He disclosed that Salone Entertainers should use social media platforms as the gateway to the world and the revitalization of Salone Music should start with all players. ” Branding, good contents, packaging, partnership, music distribution, connect between artistes and fans ” were the key issues he emphasized.
A lot of lessons were learned throughout the discussion as Hip Hop mogul Shadow Boxer, R&B Star Alonzo, Traditional folk singer Fantacee Wiz, and US-based singer Abizzy also made meaningful contributions during the learning process and the meeting ended up with refreshments.
