Renowned radio presenter Mamaja Jalloh, popularly known as DJ Base, has urged the government to reconsider its spending habits, particularly the use of luxury vehicles by ministers, which he described as wasteful and unnecessary.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Truth Media, Jalloh suggested that if he were President of Sierra Leone, he would replace ministers’ expensive SUVs with simpler, more affordable cars.
“Even if you have a Jeep, SUV, or Wrangler and I drive a small car, the most important thing is that it takes me to my destination,” Jalloh said. “Why should I want an SUV when I can still do my work effectively without it?”
He contrasted Sierra Leone with countries like the United Kingdom, where leaders focus on delivering results rather than living lavish lifestyles. “It’s not about SUVs, it’s about service delivery. Sometimes these leaders even take trains to work it makes no difference. That’s the type of impact we want to create,” he explained.
Jalloh also criticized the misuse of government resources, highlighting instances where officials reportedly left their SUVs running while attending interviews.
“Why is that happening? It is just a waste of resources. There are far too many vehicles being misused, and these are the things government should address,” he asserted
