Sierra Leone’s President, Dr Julius Maada Bio joined the world to commemorate the World Food Day on Social Media with the theme “Water is Life, Water is Food, Leave No One Behind”

He wrote on Facebook:

“As we mark World Food Day with the theme “Water is Life, Water is Food, Leave No One Behind”, today serves as a poignant reminder of the inseparable connection between water and our ability to feed our growing population.

Water, the most fundamental and precious resource, is indispensable in pursuing food security, eliminating hunger, and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Yet, as we stand on the cusp of a new era, we face the reality that our water resources are under immense strain. Climate change, population growth, and environmental degradation are threatening access to clean and abundant water that is vital for food production.

On this day, we must therefore band together and commit to collectively work towards solving this pressing problem.

Through our Government’s flagship FEED SALONE Programme, we are committed to building a Food-Secure Sierra Leone that Leaves No One Behind. We recognise that the strength of our future lies in the hands of those who till the land and protect our water sources today. (Xanax)

Happy #WorldFoodDay2023!”

It is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with hunger and food security, including the World Food Programme, the World Health Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
