President Julius Maada Bio on Thursday chaired a meeting of the Presidential Council overseeing the government’s Feed Salone Initiative, aimed at reviewing the progress and impact of the programme since its launch.
Addressing council members and key partners, President Bio emphasized that the current administration is operating under a strict mandate for results, describing the period as the government’s “Year of Action.”
Discussions during the meeting focused largely on the initiative’s flagship interventions—high-priority projects designed to modernize Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector and reduce the country’s reliance on food imports.
President Bio also expressed appreciation to stakeholders and private sector partners for their continued support of the programme, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving national food security.
The Feed Salone Initiative remains a central component of the government’s economic agenda, with a focus on boosting local food production, promoting agricultural investment, and supporting rural development.
