Opposition politician Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has publicly alleged that Agnes Bio, the daughter of President Julius Maada Bio, has given birth to a child fathered by Jos Leijdekkers, a convicted Dutch drug lord wanted by international authorities.
In a social media post published Friday, Kamarainba claimed the child was born in New York and that President Bio, who is currently attending the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), has met his new grandchild.
“BREAKING NEWS! Julius Maada Bio is now a grandpa as Agnes Bio delivered her baby in New York for Leijdekkers Jos,” Kamarainba wrote. “Maada met his grandchild when he came for the UNGA meeting this week.”
These allegations bring renewed scrutiny to the relationship between the President’s daughter and Leijdekkers, who was sentenced in absentia to 24 years in prison by a Rotterdam court for trafficking over seven tonnes of cocaine into Europe. Leijdekkers is considered one of Europe’s most wanted fugitives.
The couple first came under public attention following a lavish engagement party in Sierra Leone on November 29, 2024. The event featured performances by Nigerian Afrobeat stars Tiwa Savage and Ayra Starr, who were reportedly flown in on private jets. Kamarainba has previously alleged the artists were paid $100,000 each, raising questions about the source of the funds.
Authorities in Sierra Leone have previously denied knowledge of Leijdekkers’s status, though they acknowledged he had entered the country using a Turkish nickname, Omar Sheriff. Despite his high-profile conviction, Leijdekkers has allegedly been living undisturbed in Sierra Leone for over two years.
Efforts by the Dutch government to extradite him have been stalled by a lack of a formal extradition treaty and rumors that Leijdekkers may have illegally obtained Sierra Leonean citizenship.
The allegations of the child’s birth, which could not be independently verified by Sierraloaded and there has been no immediate official comment from State House or the Bio family regarding Kamarainba’s latest allegations.
The story continues to develop.
