President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone welcomed the country’s Hajj pilgrims at State House and joined them for the first Juma prayers.
Chief Imam Shiek Kutubu Konneh urged the pilgrims to be ambassadors of peace and nation-building, and to support the government’s “Feed Salone” initiative for food sufficiency.
Alhaji Murtada Sesay, head of the Hajj Presidential Taskforce, thanked President Bio and various government institutions for their support, ensuring a successful pilgrimage for the 640 pilgrims, though one unfortunate death was reported.
President Bio expressed gratitude to the task force for their organization and called on the pilgrims to promote peace and the new law against child marriage.
He encouraged continuous prayers for Sierra Leone and its leaders, highlighting the importance of faith in maintaining national peace and stability.
