Sierra Leone’s President Dr. Julius Maada Bio will deliver the keynote address today at the prestigious Cambridge Africa Together Conference 2026, organised by the Africa Society of Cambridge University.
The event, held under the theme “Africa in the Age of Disruption,” takes place at the historic Cambridge Union, 9A Bridge St, Cambridge, UK.
President Bio’s address, scheduled for 6:00pm UK time (5:00pm Sierra Leone time), will be a centrepiece of the two-day gathering that brings together heads of state, business leaders, academics, and global thinkers.
His remarks are expected to focus on Africa’s role in navigating global realignment, digital sovereignty, and governance resilience—key subthemes of the conference.
In a statement, State House Media and Communications confirmed the President’s participation, highlighting his engagement with the University of Cambridge community and international partners. “President @julius_maadabio at @Cambridge_Uni will share Sierra Leone’s experience in harnessing disruption for inclusive development and technological transformation,” the statement read.
Conference Chair Michelle Hadebe welcomed President Bio’s attendance, noting that his leadership in human capital development and digital innovation aligns with the conference’s mission to centre African perspectives in global conversations.
The programme runs from 4pm to 11pm on Friday, 22 May, with President Bio’s keynote slated for the evening plenary. The conference continues on 23 May, featuring panels on AI, economic futures, culture, and soft power.
