President of Sierra Leone, Dr Julius Maada Bio, is reported to have just launched the Sierra Leone Quality Essential Health Services and Systems Support Project at an auspicious occasion at State House. The project is a Government project that is funded by World Bank.
According to the reports from the Strategic Communication Unit MIC, the Project will target 5 Districts -. Bonthe, Tonkolili, Kailahun, Falaba and Western Area Rural. It aims at reducing maternal mortality rate from 717 per 100,000 to less than 300 per 100,000 in those districts.
The Country Manager of World Bank Mr. Abdu Muwonge in his statement commended government’s commitment to improving the health sector and assured government of the Bank’s support to the project.

The Minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Austin Demby assured citizens that every penny meant for the project will be utilized for the intended purpose. He disclosed that, the support from World Bank is not a repayable loan.
President Bio continues to ensure Sierra Leone is provided with the best of health systems as promised in his manifesto. “There is no meaningful development without the wellbeing of the people. The people are at the center of my government’s development agenda,” President Bio asserted.
