President Dr. Julius Maada Bio welcomed the new management team of Sierra Leone Brewery Limited during a recent meeting at the State House.

Led by Managing Director Ayokunle J. Owoniyi, the delegation included executives from Heineken International, the parent company, along with the Corporate Affairs Manager and the Legal Officer and Company Secretary of the brewery.

During the meeting, Corporate Affairs Manager Foday Daboh expressed gratitude to President Bio for his continuous support. He highlighted the brewery’s longstanding presence in Sierra Leone, spanning nearly six decades, and emphasized its resilience through various challenges and successes in the country. Daboh underscored the brewery’s significant contributions to the local economy, including the employment of over 500 Sierra Leoneans, support for over 200 local sorghum farms and suppliers, and collaboration with more than 15,000 outlets nationwide.

In his remarks, Managing Director Ayokunle J. Owoniyi reiterated the brewery’s commitment to corporate responsibility and supporting the government’s agenda. He emphasized the importance of a conducive business environment and expressed gratitude for President Bio’s dedication to protecting private investments in the country.

Ludovic Auvray, Managing Director of North and East Africa for Heineken International, emphasized the company’s focus on sustainability and local farmer support. He assured President Bio of their dedication to building a sustainable business model and enhancing the growth of sorghum in Sierra Leone.

President Bio commended Sierra Leone Brewery Limited for its long-standing presence and its partnership with local sorghum farmers. He reiterated his government’s commitment to providing a favorable business environment and protecting the interests of both private investors and local farmers. President Bio emphasized the significance of Brewery’s engagement with local farmers, aligning with his government’s Feed Salone Initiative aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and economic growth.

The meeting concluded with assurances of continued collaboration between the government and Sierra Leone Brewery Limited, reflecting a shared commitment to economic development and prosperity for the people of Sierra Leone.
