Myk Berewa, the Director of Communications in the Office of the President, explained why President Julius Maada Bio was absent during Sierra Leone’s Independence Day celebration.
According to Berewa, the president traveled to Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis.
“The president has a relationship with the Pope,” Berewa said. “The Pope is President Bio’s moral and religious figure. He calls and prays for the president.”
Berewa further explained that the president went to Rome to honor the late Pope and pay his respects.
“The president went to honor him and give him his last respects,” Berewa added.
He also stated that the president did nothing wrong by leaving the country during Sierra Leone’s Independence Day. According to Berewa, the decision was made after considering the country’s national celebration.
“The president did nothing wrong because he took the country’s Independence Day into account,” Berewa said.
Our condolences His Excellency
Our president just demonstrated that he is not a patriotic citizen of this country. Having considered the manner in which he left the country while others were travelling to the country to celebrate its independence. It’s a cleare indication of lack of patriotism and owes us an apologies for absence.

These people are pathetic. No matter how much spin they put on it, it looks really bad for the President to be absent, on the Independence day celebrations, taking in to consideration, the accusations, of always flying out of the country.
If the President cares about the the feeling of the country, I believe, he should hold a press conference explaining his absent.
Wait ya….na unu biznes if ar go berin?
