Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio will today, 2 February 2023 launch the phase 3 of the free sanitary pads distribution at the Bo Mini Stadium.

The distribution will once again benefit thousands of school girls as this is not the first time the first family is distributing pads to school girls across the country.

The initiative of distributing sanitary pads came from First Lady, Fatima Bio as many school girls don’t have the finance to buy sanitary pads while on their monthly period and prefer to use materials that are unsafe for their health.

In 2019, the First Lady launched the initiative and ever since she has been distributing pads to school girls within the country.

The free sanitary pads distribution is working simultaneously with the Hands Off Our Girls Campaign, which also an initiative of the First Lady to protect school girls.
