An unverified claim circulating on social media alleges that Julius Maada Bio has traveled secretly to Dubai and is currently unable to return to Sierra Leone due to heightened tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The allegation was made by opposition political figure Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, who stated: “Sierra Leone President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio is in Dubai. I just received a reliable information that Maada Bio traveled to Dubai secretly and he has been stuck there unable to return due to the U.S.-Israel Vs Iran tension. More information will be made available on this later.”

Mansaray did not provide evidence to support the claim, nor did he disclose the source of the information he described as reliable.

As of the time of publication, there has been no official confirmation from the Government of Sierra Leone or the Office of the President regarding the President’s travel to Dubai or any difficulty in returning to the country.

The Presidency has not issued a public statement addressing the allegation. Efforts to obtain independent verification of the claim have not yielded confirmation.

Meanwhile, reports from Emirates News Agency (ENA) says UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call today from President  Julius Maada Bio, during which they reviewed recent regional developments and the implications of the serious military escalation for regional and international peace and security.

President Bio expressed his condemnation of the blatant Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries, stressing that they constitute a violation of international law and the principles of the United Nations.

He also affirmed Sierra Leone’s solidarity with the UAE in all measures it takes to safeguard its territory, security, and the safety of its people. His Highness thanked the Sierra Leonean President for his country’s supportive stance towards the UAE.

Both sides called for restraint and an end to the military escalation in the region, given the grave threat it poses to security and stability. They emphasised the importance of addressing issues through dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

Tensions in the Middle East have drawn global attention in recent days, particularly involving Israel and Iran, with international observers closely monitoring developments.

However, there has been no publicly available information linking the reported tensions directly to the travel movements of the Sierra Leonean President.

President Bio has continued to carry out official engagements in recent weeks, according to prior government communications. It remains unclear when he was last seen publicly in Sierra Leone or whether any scheduled engagements have been postponed.

The claim by Mansaray remains unverified, and authorities have yet to respond publicly.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
