President Julius Maada Bio formally presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Mohamed Sulaiman Bangura as a member of the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) at State House on Thursday.

Bangura joins the commission following his nomination by the Sierra Leone Labour Congress. The PPRC is the statutory body tasked with the registration and regulation of the conduct of political parties in Sierra Leone.

During the ceremony, President Bio congratulated the new appointee and emphasized the importance of neutrality in the role. The President stated that he expects an “impartial and fair dispensation” of responsibilities from Bangura as he joins the regulatory body.

The appointment is part of the ongoing efforts to maintain the oversight functions of the commission, ensuring that political entities adhere to established legal frameworks and democratic norms.
