Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio is set to embark on his first official trip outside the country since his recent re-election.

Today, His Excellency will depart from Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, and head to Abuja, Nigeria. From there, he will proceed to Bissau, the capital city of Guinea Bissau, to attend the Sixty-Third Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on July 4th, 2023.

Before departing for the ECOWAS meeting, President Bio is scheduled to meet with his Nigerian counterpart, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Abuja.

The meeting aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Nigeria and discuss regional cooperation within the ECOWAS framework.
