President Julius Maada Bio today warmly received a delegation of Trade Ministers from the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) at State House, following the successful conclusion of the 11th Trade Ministers’ Forum held in Freetown.
The delegation, led by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Ibrahim Alpha Sesay, briefed the President on the outcomes of the forum, which was organized by the West Africa Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The forum focused on enhancing regional trade through sound governance, streamlined supply chains, and deeper collaboration among stakeholders.
During the meeting, the delegates highlighted key recommendations from the forum, emphasizing the importance of trade integration in boosting economic growth across WAMZ member states. The discussions aimed to address barriers to trade, improve policy frameworks, and strengthen ties within the region to facilitate a more cohesive and efficient trading environment.
President Bio expressed his appreciation for the delegation’s dedication to advancing regional trade and congratulated Sierra Leone on its election as Chair of the 11th Trade Ministers’ Forum of WAMZ.
