President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone welcomed his Liberian counterpart, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, to Freetown today for a bilateral meeting held at the Presidential Lounge in State House.
This marks President Boakai’s first official visit to Sierra Leone since his inauguration, highlighting the enduring ties between the two West African nations.
During the meeting, President Bio emphasized the significance of the visit in strengthening the bonds between the neighboring countries. “I am delighted to welcome my brother and colleague, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., to Freetown. His visit underscores the strong bonds between our nations and highlights the deep connections we share as sister countries,” President Bio stated.
The two leaders discussed avenues for enhanced collaboration across various sectors, reaffirming their commitment to advancing mutual interests. President Bio assured his counterpart of Sierra Leone’s continued partnership with Liberia on regional and bilateral issues.
President Boakai expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and acknowledged Sierra Leone as a key ally in fostering stability and development in the Mano River Union region.
This high-level visit is expected to further cement the longstanding relationship between Sierra Leone and Liberia, as the two nations look to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, security, and cultural exchange.
