Sierra Leone’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi has conveyed its regards to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. It was disclosed that due to ongoing security concerns in the country, President Bio will not be able to attend the COP28, as previously communicated.

They additionally revealed that Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Chairman of the Presidential Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security, has been appointed to represent President Bio as the head of the Sierra Leone delegation at the COP28.

The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Abu Dhabi presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and has the honour to convey that due to recent breach of security in Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone regrets that he will not be able to attend the COP28 as earlier communicated.

I am further honoured to convey His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s consent to appoint Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella Chairman, Presidential Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Food Security to represent him at the COP28 as head of the Sierra Leone delegation.
