Preparations are well underway for what is expected to be the biggest civic-themed event in Sierra Leone, as the Ministry of Information and Civic Education takes significant steps toward the successful rollout of the 2025 Civic Festival.

Earlier today, Minister Chernor Bah held a high-level engagement with two influential cultural figures LAJ, serving in his role as Peace Ambassador, and Collabo, President of the Sierra Leone Artists Union.

The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on developing a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening public participation, community engagement, and national unity through the three-day festival. Both LAJ and Collabo committed to supporting the ministry’s vision by mobilizing artists, promoting the event nationwide, and ensuring that the festival delivers both cultural and civic value.

Scheduled to take place from December 11th to 13th at the Youyi Building compound, the Civic Festival is designed as a platform to promote civic responsibility, public awareness, and national cohesion. The event will feature a variety of activities, including educational engagements, community-centered exhibitions, and entertainment performances.

A major highlight will be the Unity and Peace Concert on the final day, where LAJ, Collabo, and other prominent artists are expected to perform. Organizers say the concert aims to use music as a tool for positive influence, fostering dialogue and reinforcing messages of peace and togetherness across the country.

According to the ministry, the involvement of well-known figures from the entertainment industry is a deliberate strategy to attract broad public interest, particularly among young people, who form a significant portion of Sierra Leone’s population. Their participation is also expected to elevate the festival’s profile and strengthen its impact.

Minister Bah expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing that the Civic Festival is not merely an entertainment event but a national initiative to deepen civic consciousness, celebrate diversity, and encourage collective responsibility.

With preparations gaining pace and partners expressing strong commitment, the 2025 Civic Festival is shaping up to be a landmark event. Sierra Leoneans are encouraged to participate in the three-day celebration of unity, culture, and civic pride.
