A number of officers from the Operational Support Division (OSD) of the Sierra Leone Police were spotted on Monday morning at Cotton Tree adjacent to the main Law Court Building in Central Freetown.

It is indicated that the paramilitary forces are there to ensure that there is calm and security as the main opposition All People’s Congress Presidential Candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara is to appear together with other accused persons in the Sierra Leone Chancery Building in New York trial.

Reports intimated to Sierraloaded that the second accused in the trial, Adikali Foday Suma is set to testify.

This comes weeks after the presiding judge, Justice Adrian Fisher rejected a no case submission and instituted a visit to the Chancery Building in New York.

In the previous sitting, lawyers representing Kamara objected to the video-vising of the trial. They said that the recordings might be the only evidence available to the public.

Justice Fisher, however, did not accede to their objection citing that public opinion will not determine the outcome of the trial. He promised that the trial will be fair and that the law will be fully applied.

Kamara is accused together with 5 others including a US citizen of corruption allegation. It is alleged by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) that the six accused misappropriation of public funds, misleading the principal among others.

The APC 2023 election Presidential candidate has since denied the allegation citing that they are politically motivated and aimed at smearing his image.

Meanwhile, the sitting will commence at 11 am on Monday morning.
