In a brief engagement with the press, Evin Incir, the European Union’s Chief Observer for the Sierra Leone elections, provided an update on the ongoing voting process.
While acknowledging some initial delays across various parts of the country, Incir assured the press and the public that further updates would be shared as the situation progresses.
Incir addressed the media from the SOS Lumley venue, stated that they have observers stationed in all 16 districts of the country.
She emphasized the importance of every eligible Sierra Leonean exercising their democratic rights by participating in the electoral process.
Despite the challenges encountered, she remained confident that the delays would be addressed, and the voting process would continue smoothly.
“For now, we have observed some delays in most parts of the country, but we will provide you with further updates as time goes by,” stated Incir, highlighting the commitment to keeping the public informed.
She stressed the need for all eligible voters to make their way to the polling stations and cast their ballots, underlining the significance of each vote in shaping the country’s future.
As EU Chief Observer, Incir is responsible for overseeing the electoral proceedings, ensuring transparency, and monitoring adherence to democratic principles.
