An estimated 1.5 million children under the age of five will receive the third round of polio vaccines in the coming days across 14 districts in Sierra Leone.
The Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Agency (NPHA) organized a press conference on Tuesday to raise awareness about this.
Polio, a preventable disease that can cause lifelong paralysis, remains a significant public health concern in the country. The NPHA and its partners are working tirelessly to ensure that every child is vaccinated and protected from the virus.
The third round of polio vaccinations will be conducted from September 27th to 30th, targeting children in 14 districts across Sierra Leone. Subsequent phases will focus on the Western Area Urban and Rural regions.
The NPHA urges all parents to make their children available for vaccination during the designated period. By participating in this campaign, parents can help protect their children’s health and contribute to the eradication of polio in Sierra Leone.
