Sierra Leone’s Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad O. Sackey, has expressed appreciation to friends, colleagues, partners, and supporters who sent him birthday greetings, while clarifying that the day widely believed to be his birthday was not actually the date of his birth.
In a public message shared on Monday, March 9, 2026, Sackey thanked individuals who reached out with goodwill messages, prayers, and words of encouragement, noting that the gestures were deeply appreciated despite the misunderstanding about the occasion.
“I sincerely thank all friends, colleagues, partners, and well-wishers who have reached out today with kind birthday messages, prayers, and good wishes,” Sackey said in the statement.
The minister acknowledged the warmth shown by those who contacted him, emphasizing that their expressions of support were meaningful to him. “Your thoughtful gestures and expressions of goodwill mean a great deal to me and are truly appreciated,” he added.
However, Sackey used the message to clarify that the day in question was not his birthday, even though many people had believed it was. “However, I would like to kindly clarify that today is not my birthday,” he stated.
Despite the clarification, the minister said he remained grateful for the kindness shown by those who took the time to send greetings. “Nonetheless, I am grateful for the warmth and kindness shown by everyone who took the time to send their greetings,” Sackey said.
He concluded the message by thanking supporters for their continued encouragement as he carries out his responsibilities in the education sector. “Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as we work together to advance education,” he said.
Sackey currently serves as Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in the Government of Sierra Leone, where he is responsible for overseeing policies and programs aimed at improving access to and the quality of education across the country. His statement was issued as messages continued to circulate on social media from individuals wishing him a happy birthday.
