Sierra Leone’s Consul-General in Miami, George Hamilton has led a group of business delegation to Sierra Leone as part of an effort in promoting business and investment.
The business delegation include Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 9, Kionne L. McGhee who was elected Florida House of Representatives in 2012.
District 2 Commissioner, Marleine Bastien, Mayor of the City of North Miami, Alix Desulme and Scott Galvin Councilman of North Miami were also part of the delegation.
The US delegation met with officials from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) at Tower Hill where they discussed mutual business opportunities.
One of the business options discussed was a possible collaboration between the Queen Elizabeth II Quay and the Port of Miami.
Possible investment opportunities and collaboration between other ministries including the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Education and the Miami-Dade County.
Ministers present at the meeting appreciated Consul-General Hamilton for the collaboration and potential opportunities.
MDAs were also hopeful that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the US County and MDAs. The MoU when actualised could provide opportunities for locals especially youths.
