Corporate Affairs Commission has issued a statement withdrawing its approval from the Consortium of Progressive Political Parties.

In the statement, the Consortium of Progressive Political Parties was registered as a company limited by guarantee without the requisite approval from the appropriate authorities for the use of the words ‘Political’ and ‘Parties’, which the statement says is in contravention of section 28(1) C of the company Act.
“No company shall be incorporated or registered under this Act by a name which in the opinion of the commission is capable of misleading as to the nature or extent of its activities or is undesirable, offensive or otherwise contrary to public policy”.

The statement ended by asking the public to visit the company website to get access to its Act.
