The Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) announces the commencement of recruitment for Officers Cadet/Specialist, Technical/Tradesmen, and General Duty Corrections Officers. Interested individuals, who meet the specified criteria, are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:

Corrections Officer Cadet/Specialist:

  1. Age: 18 – 35

  2. Education: Degree from a recognized university or tertiary institution (Degrees in Medicine, Law, Nursing, Engineering, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Mass Communication, Psychology, etc., are encouraged).

  3. Testimonial: Submission of a testimonial from the attended university.

  4. Language Proficiency: Exhibit proficiency in oral and written English.

  5. License/Certificate: Hold an up-to-date license/certificate relevant to the profession.

Technical/Tradesmen:

  1. Age: 18 – 35
  2. Education: Diploma/Certificate from a recognized Technical and Vocational Training Institution.
  3. Practical Demonstration: Ability to practically demonstrate the trade.

General Duty Corrections Officer:

  1. Age: 18 – 30
  2. Education: At least three (3) credits at the WASSCE in a single sitting.

Application Process:

• Download the application form at www.slcs.gov.sl. The form must be printed with its colored stamp.
• Submit the completed form along with necessary documents (WASSCE result, degree, certificate, birth certificate, national identity card, and two passport-sized photos) by hand in Freetown at the Correctional Service Headquarters New England Ville or any Correctional Centre nationwide.
• Deadline for submission: 12th February 2024.

Applicants with WASSCE results must attach a valid WAEC scratch card for verification. Names of shortlisted applicants and further selection details will be displayed at Correctional Centres nationwide and on the SLCS website and social media handles.

Shortlisted applicants will undergo a pre-enlistment examination in English Language, Mathematics, and General Paper, and a thorough medical examination at their own expense, at an SLCS selected medical facility.
