Popular rapper and CEO of RFM Boss LA was brought to court yesterday after nine days in Police custody in Benghazi. According to our sources and the rumors circling social media platforms about some accusations made on the rapper, including shaving his dreadlocks off his head while in Police custody, the rapper was brought to court with shaved head.
According to the IGP, Ambrose Sovula, he explained that they had to cut the dreadlocks of Boss LA because he wanted to commit suicide by strangling himself to death. This he disclosed on a live BBC interview with Sierra Leone BBC corespondent Umaru Fofana.
After the Magistrate, Kekuka has sent the rapper to Pademba correctional center and the case adjourned, lawyer Alfred Kamanda updates Sierra Leoneans on the Boss LA matter as his usual contributions in the freedom fight of Boss LA.
On his Facebook page he wrote:
“Nine days after his arrest and detention at Banghazi -which is a facility with Special Operation Procedure (SOP) that demands the shaving off of the hair of all male detainees as provided for in the Police Press Release-, LAJ, was this evening sneaked into the Magistrate Court at Pademba Road before Magistrate Sahr Kekura.
The Pademba Road Magistrate Court was barricaded with armed Police Officers and with limited access to members of the public.
Before I could make it to the Court room, than the matter had been adjourned to Wednesday the 22nd day of June 2022 at 1PM.
I was reliably informed that Yusif Isaac Represented the state and the accused LAJ was represented by IP Mamie and Madieu Sesay.
Since the Prosecution could not proceed the Defence team made a short application for bail which was refused.
The BBC Umaru Fofana interviewed Lawyer Madieu sesay in respect of the matter, Michael Sallieu Charles from the Sierra Leone Bar Association and Inspector Sovula.
The Inspector General of police stole the day with his reason advanced for the shaving of LAJ’s dreadlocks! He says he tried using his dreadlocks to commit suicide! That story does not sell to men of conscience. I think he should be sent on leave to retire for serving us well!
I finally came to the Court after the matter has been adjourned. I met with Pa Bah and he looks very pleased to have seen his son alive. He says the dreadlocks is gone but the fact that his son is still alive still serves as a source of joy to him and the family. He prays for a fair trial but he is not optimistic.
Thanks to all of you! The matter is now in Court and as a result this is my final update on this matter.”
